We've seen the SMB theme song played on just about everything - from every instrument known to man to someone hand farting the song. This version is the most nerdiest one yet. It's played with 3 computer floppy drives using a custom circuit that shakes the floppy disk head at a particular frequency to make the music notes. +1000 Geek points! :)
We just found this gem on YouTube by a user named Jimmy. Jimmy created this awesome A Capella version of our favorite Super Mario Bros. theme song by cutting all the tracks himself.

Some of the hair metal folks might remember a band called Mr. Bungle from the 80s. They were a experimental rock/avant-garde metal group from N. California. This video is from the 2009 Taiwan International Festival - VGL in Taipei. They had an orchestra there playing a bunch of video game songs and one of them was the Super Mario Bros theme song.

This is hands down the BEST Super Mario Bros metal mix to ever grace the Internet! Even though the video says "Nintendo Entertainment System of A Down", we're not sure if SOAD really did it... although it's good enough that it could be SOAD as they are gamers and did do a Legend of Zelda song (see below the Mario Metal mix).

We can't even pronounce the instrument this guy is using to play the Super Mario Bros theme song. The instrument used is a Balalaika, it's a Russian stringed instrument with a triangular body. Vould joo like to touch his monkey?
Here's an instrument you don't see very often - the marimba. It's basically a big piano that you have to strike with mallets. Here are two Mario fans getting their Mario groove on!
