So here we go again - Nintendo just released the new Nintendo DSi in Japan and there's news flying around that it has already been "cracked". History has proven that handhelds are relatively easy to crack so this came as no surprise. Acekard is the first company to release a storage device that'll work with the new Nintendo DSi - the Acekard 2i :) The Acekard 2i (AK2i) is just like all the other storage devices (R4DS, DSTT, etc) in that it'll allow DSi owners to run homebrew and backup their original cartridges onto a microSDHC card.
The new Nintendo DSi has some sweet new features - it's 12% thinner than the DS lite, larger screens and has 2 digital cameras. The combination of the new DSi and the Acekard 2i is a match made in heaven! We can't wait to get our hands on the pair.
Here's are some specs on the new Acekard 2i:
- Acekard 2i is the same size as the original Nintendo DS cart
- You won't need to modify your DSi to use the Acekard 2i
- No need to use a passme
- Supports DSi, DSL, IDSL, IDS AND DS
- Acekard 2i is compatible with all homebrew (ie. Moonshell)
- DLDI auto-patcher
- Supports SDHC MicroSD cards! (that means you can use 16GB microSDHC if you want)
- Supports Action Replay cheats with built-in editor
- Built-in Trimming - this will trim unnecessary data off roms to save room on your microSDHC
- Built-in File operation - (ie. Copy/Paste for file maintenance)
- Supports custom skins
- Supports soft resets (L+R+A+B+Down)
Here's a video of the Nintendo DSi with Acekard 2i in action (notice the cool Mario skin they're using! :) :
