_DS_MENU.DAT

I downloaded the 1.18 English (system, moonshl, _DS_MENU.DAT and _DS_MSHL.NDS) but the DS screen shows 'couldn't find _DS_MENU.DAT'. I just received the R4 pack (without CD) a few days ago. Help please!!

Which R4 did you buy?
Please be specific as there are different types of R4s and you might have the wrong firmware.
It's R4 Revolution for DS
It's R4 Revolution for DS (NDSL/NDS). I got it from Hong Kong.
Any advice gratefully received!

There are many versions of the R4:
R4DS
R4 III
R4 SDHC Upgrade
R4 Ultra
Which one did you buy?
Both box and card just say
Both box and card just say R4 Revolution for DS. No mention of III or SDHC upgrade or Ultra. Therefore, I guess just R4DS.

I'm having the same problem have you found the solution or any help?
How To Fix R4DS Error About _DS_MENU.DAT
Open The File The Files Came In With A Program (I Recommend 7-ZIp, Good Archive Opener That Supports Rars With No Drawbacks For FREE!) And Extract To The TOP LEVEL Of Your MicroSD Card (It Must Be Inserted Into The MicroSD Adapter For USB That Shipped With Your R4. Then Put Some Games On, Take Out The Card, Put It Into The R4DS And It Should Work.
