Wii Alert: Do NOT upgrade your Wii to 4.3

Nintendo has released a new updated for the Wii - version 4.3. This update doesn't do anything useful except it deletes your Homebrew channel and blocks BannerBomb from installing. So if you have the Homebrew channel installed, DO NOT upgrade. Just FYI. :)

Updating Wii 3.2U to 4.1U with working Homebrew Channel

I've been running my Wii with the 3.2U firmware for the longest time now and I've finally run into some compatibility problems that forced me to update the Wii to 4.1U. Some games like Guitar Hero 5 will not boot with 3.2U and Configurable USB Loader. I found some really good tutorials on updating your Wii to 4.1U, but when I tried to run the updater I got an error (-1036). After Googling some more I was able to piece a few tutorials together and got the result I needed. One really nice surprise after updating from 3.2U to 4.1U is the ability to play WADs from the SD card!

Wii System Menu 4.2 update bricking some Wii systems

So Nintendo released a new firmware for the Wii - SMU 4.2 and according to some sites, it's breaking Wiis that haven't been modified (Homebrew). Without the updates, you won't be able to access the Shop Channel, News and Forecast Channels. So if you don't care about those channels DO NOT UPDATE YOUR Wii TO 4.2!

Here's a quote from GameSpot:

This generation of consoles has seen firmware updates become frequent and routine. Nearly as commonplace have been the post-patch gamer complaints that the latest update has rendered their systems inoperable.

GAF's Wii Homebrew Tutorial are the most up to date set of Wii tutorials known to mankind and possibly aliens. These tutorials will guide you through everything you never knew you can do with your Nintendo Wii like: backing up your original games onto USB hard drive and playing from the USB hardrive and playing games imported from different regions (Japan/Europe/USA). They're all safe and thousands of people have successfully modified their Wiis to get these features not included with the factory console.

If you're sick of 3d polygons and endlessly roaming around levels to look for stuff, then this game is for you. This game definitely brings back the good old school platform gaming. Check out this good video review by IGN.
